After his first exhibition at Galerie Michael Schultz in 2013, entitled 'be water' the artist is back with new light paintings from his adopted home of Hawaii .
Udo Nöger does not structure the surface of his canvasses with power and will, but allows the layers of his paintings the freedom to become total space and absolute light. He captures the luminance between the surfaces and uses rays of light as the actual material to define hi images.
Most of his paintings are composed of several layers of tissue, one stretched above the other and so always give the light its different room. Intentionally, Nöger uses materials that have different light transmittance - canvas, gauze, nettle and others. When light falls on the canvas, sometimes new images arise in his paintings - a unique combination of brightness, shadow and color, which every person perceives differently.
Udo Nöger was born in 1961 in the East Westphalian Enger. From 1980 to 1983, he attended the Fachhochschule Bielefeld, before dedicating exclusively to art. In addition to numerous exhibitions in Germany, he presented his paintings and installations in Vienna, Miami, Chicago and Honolulu. Since 1994, he lives and works both in Germany and in the United States.
